Countertrade

The sale of goods or services that are paid for in whole or part by the transfer of goods or services from a foreign country. Generic term for barter and other forms of trade that involve the international sale of goods or services that are paid for – in whole or in part – by the transfer of goods or services from a foreign country. A form of barter in which the exporting firm is required to take the countervalue of its sale in local goods or services instead of in cash.
